Let's Play Fallout 1 [Part 6] - Goodbye Gizmo, Hello Hub
37In this episode of my Fallout 1 LP walkthrough thing, I finish up the Killian and Gizmo quest line in Junktown before moving on to The Hub. All that's left in Junktown is to help Killian and the guards kill Gizmo, so it doesn't take too long.
The Hub is a pretty involved place, and the biggest city in Fallout 1, so for the sake of the LP, I skip a lot of footage of me selling things and wandering around. While I do love Fallout, it has been a while since I played, so I think it was a good choice to keep the lets play progressing at a decent pace. The game is very fun to play, but the video of aimless wandering isn't very entertaining. So don't think Fallout 1 is boring or something because I'm cutting a lot of stuff! It's still better than Fallout 3 (and I say that having played Fallout 3 first).
I chose to include a very brief summary of all of the different locations in The Hub as well. I know this is a lets play, but it does sort of double as a not-at-all comprehensive gameplay walkthrough. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a LP that's informative. It only takes up a little time, so we get back to the gameplay in short order. And the gameplay is quite fun. I really enjoy The Hub. It's a complicated place acts as a, well, hub for Fallout's many story threads. We don't complete it until a few more episodes into this LP because, as I said, it's a big place.
The Hub has various trading caravans, including the water merchant, who bring water to all towns in the world of Fallout 1, including (if I'm not mistaken) Shady Sands and Junktown. There's also another gambling establishment with another crime boss and another option to aid justice. Looks like someone on the Fallout dev team ran out of ideas, huh?
There are also a few quests that I don't cover in this lets play, as with every town. I'm not a completionist, and my people are dying of thirst because they don't have a water chip, so I don't have time to solve every little problem in my way.
