Let's Play Gold Rush!: Episode 1: Brooklyn Heights, 1848
Matt & Luke take a trip to the far past of North America to experience the Let's Play Gold Rush! The classic EGA Text Parser adventure from Sierra On-Line. Matt controls the game's prospector prospect, Jerrod Wilson in the sale of his home, the gathering of some old money fallen and forgotten in an old Gazebo, and the collection of a mysterious letter. The NPCs also reminisce about Matt's memories of playing the game in his youth.
Gold Rush! Is a graphic adventure game created in the AGI engine, published by Sierra On-Line in 1988 for MS-DOS, Amiga, Atari ST and various Apple computers. It was one of the early games in Sierra's catalog of text parser adventure games, but unlike many of its contemporaries in the well-known "Quest" franchises, it was a single game with no sequels published.
Gold Rush! Tells the story of newspaperman Jerrod Wilson, who receives a mysterious letter and a flake of gold from his long-lost brother Jake, and must embark on a journey to the West coast of America during the era of the California Gold Rush. It is a reasonably accurate historical simulation, historically accurate to a fault, as the player could be sent to the gallows for claim jumping, trespassing, or stealing, if the random cholera and other unforgiving random events didn't get them first. The game was rife with "Dead Man Walking" issues, but was also well-regarded for its replayability in the branching method of its storytelling.
