Serious Sunday: The 8-year-old dev - How even a child can learn to make games
Luke returns from a party with a story of a remarkable sight of Matt's 8-year-old son downloading and, with minimal help from an "adult", proceeds to learn how to make a flappy bird clone from the comfort of his own couch. It's a tale of a shift in the natural order of game development learning for the far better, as the walls to entry into the industry are becoming lower and lower thanks to free tools and an infrastructure of knowledge far beyond that any previous generation ever had.
Serious Sunday is a freeform roundtable discussion between the members of the Level 0 NPCs, where a specific topic is pre-selected by the group to be explored and discussed at length. Each of the NPCs approach the topic from both the perspective of a seasoned, die-hard gamer, and as creators of games themselves. Part freeform review, part critical analysis, part video game book club, Serious Sunday is where the NPCs take a step back and take a moment to give a serious look at something that is important to the industry, or games in general.
