In this week's WedSNESday, Matt & Luke visit one of the most iconic game franchises of the 8-bit era, with Luke's first NES game: Mega Man 2. Luke is holding the controller this week and blasts his way through Flash Man, Metal Man and Bubble Man's stages. We talk music and our memories of the Mega Man series, and question the design of some of the game's more memorable robot adversaries.

Mega Man 2 was released in 1989 in North America from Capcom on the Nintendo Entertainment System, featuring the character designs of Capcom's eventual Global Head of Production Keiji Inafune. In the Mega Man series, the player controls the eponymous blue bomber as they battle across 8 themed maps in order to destroy the malfunctioning "Robot Masters" that have been reprogrammed by the evil Dr. Wily. Each robot uses a unique set of attacks, and defeating them grants Mega Man the ability to use their powers. This formula of 8 robot masters then a final linear "Castle" level became the formula for the majority of more than 20 sequel games.

WedSNESday is the Level 0 NPCs weekly series where we play one older game for one episode, just to relive the nostalgia and maybe make your hump day just a little bit more fun.
