Let's Play: Make A Good Megaman Level 3 - Part 33
After what seems like a near century wait (it was really only about 5 years), the newest Make A Good Mega Man Level (MAGMML for short) has been released! I've decided to get on this as soon as possible before I start getting spoiled on the entries. I'll be playing through the levels and reading the reviews along the way and giving some thoughts on each of the levels in the description. Feel free to follow along...
Tier 13 is down. Two more tiers to go! Oh lovely, we are so close...
Glitz Woman - Fun stage, not much else to say... to be honest, coming up with individual things to say about the stages is draining. I don't envy the judges in the slightest.
Boost Man - Might be my favorite so far of the contest. The high speed and high jump platforms are used exceptionally well. Not a fan of having to die to get everything in one go, but that's a nitpick since the checkpoint is right there at the split.
Spectrum Science - Look. The level is well made. At the end of the day, the target is to make a good Mega Man level and in that general definition, it succeeds. I just didn't have fun though. The first path was, okay and the boss was fun, then came the second path and, again, it was good (better than the first half). Coming this far into the contest though, I am looking for a bit more than "okay". Well made though, I can see the appeal.
Stalks, Shoots, and Leaves - Why do plants hurt "Mega Man"? Even back in the day, RMs like Plant Man and (to a lesser extent) Wood Man baffled me. In Plant Man's case though, he does have an arm cannon, so there is that. The stage itself was pretty good, but the tokens were absolutely annoying to get. I guess that's the point though.
Doorkman - Great stage. The Astro Man gates can be a great gimmick when used right and this stage used them to perfection. Though some of the enemy setups were annoying and the stage is a little too long. But still, good.
Luminous Tower Ascent - Second favorite so far. A nice, quick, challenging level that ticks all the boxes. Still not a fan of the pendulum enemies, but they aren't too bad here.
Dark Castle - See previous entry... minus the whole pendulum enemies. Quick and fun. If this is what Tier 13 is, I can't wait for the next two.
