Let's Play: Make A Good Megaman Level 3 - Part 30
After what seems like a near century wait (it was really only about 5 years), the newest Make A Good Mega Man Level (MAGMML for short) has been released! I've decided to get on this as soon as possible before I start getting spoiled on the entries. I'll be playing through the levels and reading the reviews along the way and giving some thoughts on each of the levels in the description. Feel free to follow along...
Man we are really getting into a consistent schedule, aren't we?
Sludge Man - Skip Teleporter due to one token dubbed, unreasonable... playing the level, I was unsure what token they were talking about as none seemed too difficult... Fun little stage with an interesting gimmick that isn't made clear at first, and aside from one token, isn't used as much as it could be.
Undead Fortress - Another good stage. Essentially a remake of the first Wily Fortress, but since it's been destroyed, it is crumbling apart and all the robots are seemingly undead. How a robot becomes undead is beyond me, but here we are. The boss is incredibly unsettling in a very good way.
Geek Man - A lot of my issues with this stage stem from all the waiting around for the footholders to spawn. Playing the same parts over and over when it's a glorified autoscroller, is not fun. And gets tedious fast. Fortunately, the stage is good, so it's not like the early levels where this happens and you aren't having fun. The boss was also great, and was totally not expecting that.
Somewhere Underground - Oh look! It's gone-sovereign. What Silverstein song are you going to introduce me to this time? *impending copyright strtike*... This level was great. Great use of gimmicks and a wave bike segment that didn't suck. Loved the boss, but it was begging for a second form.
Nowhere yet everywhere: When the world may loop - I'm not hot on looping levels, but this one executes it very well. The big thing is to make sure you take advantage of the gimmick and not just send you on an infinite trial and error loop ala Yoku Man. Very good for what it is.
Guitar Man - Pretty much exactly what a Mega Man stage should be... Gimmick A, Gimmick B, Gimmick A+B. Short and sweet, yet challenging at times. The boss was painfully easy though, could've used adjusting, but otherwise a good stage.
