Let's Play Pillars of Eternity [55] - Through Death's Gate

As you might expect from the 55th episode of a Pillars of Eternity playthrough, this video features gameplay from Pillars of Eternity. We're still in Cliaban Rilag, where we ended last episode of the LP, but this episode we make it to the area where the real answers to our quests lie. And by quests, I mean the Through Death's Gate main story quest, which we got from sneaking into the Leaden Key's secret base in the Temple of Woedica in Defiance Bay.

I'm so excited the the end is near. Not the end of the narrative of course. Oh no. The narrative of Pillars of Eternity is truly inspired by games like Baldur's Gate II, at least insomuch as having a very long story filled with lots of writing and flowery prose. Yet, the end of the current chapter of the main storyline of Pillars of Eternity is near. After that, who knows where the narrative will take us? And who know what kinds of amazing changes to the gameplay we will see? Changes to the gameplay that will make the combat awesome, and the walking around less tedious, and the encounter design more varied and interesting. Okay, maybe I'm being too hopeful with respect to the gameplay, but at least the story is bound to be good. Pillars of Eternity isn't an Obsidian game for nothing.

Anyway, this episode of Let's Play Pillars of Eternity we fight a bunch of animats and then find a strange Engwithan machine, not unlike the machine in Heritage Hill atop Teir Nowneth. There we have another crazy Watcher dream, and I still don't understand the implication this has on the storyline nor the lore of Pillars of Eternity. But hey, after that we get to do one of those cool choose your own adventure sections, which I think add more to the gameplay that the combat. At least in terms of variety. Then it's time to head back to Defiance Bay, and reveal the information we have found to Lady Webb. The Leaden Key is going down! Thaos is going down!
