Let's Play Starward Rogue - #21: Alpha on Extended Normal (1/3)
3In this part, I use the Roulette Mech Alpha on the Extended Normal mode. It's one of the four new mechs that Logorogue added in their "more mechs" mod. You can download that mod here: https://forums.arcengames.com/starward-rogue-mods-modding/more-mechs/
The Alpha Mech's main claim to fame is its experimental learning A.I. - which translates to a greatly increased experience gain. However, the perks you get upon levelling up are randomized. Some runs, you'll get some awesome perks, but others, you may get stuck in a rut with several "weak" perks. Moreover, it has a very low starting HP value of 3 on normal mode. This means you can be three-shot in the first floor if you're not careful. It's even worse on higher difficulty settings where your max HP is lower.
What made this worse was that the room and item generation was rather unforgiving for the first sets of rooms. Seriously, it felt like I was playing on hard mode.
If anything, this mech follows the "Magikarp Power" mold. It starts out very weak, but becomes crazy powerful after a lot of work is put into it. However, depending on your luck, this may or may not happen.
