Let's Play Drifting Lands - #02: Assessing the Threat
2In this part, I get formally introduced to the Rift and some of its denizens, learn more about Redemption, and embark on several missions to cull Redemption's forces in the region.
And of course, I procure lots of credits and loot in the process. Equipment isn't too crazy yet, but I suppose we'll be seeing gear with more unique effects in the mid to late game. We've seen hints of it with that piece of rare gear that has a flaw. Weapon choice for example will become a lot more important when we start encountering more enemies with specific damage resistances and weaknesses.
Errata:
* When I talked about the DPS values of weapons, I meant to say they could be misleading at times, not lying. After all, some weapons have a bigger spread and are harder to use, but have higher DPS. Not to mention, the practical DPS can vary on what scenario you found yourself in.
* In part 3, I realized what the focus system is about. Focus acts as a score multiplier. So, the higher the focus level, the more credits you receive when destroying enemies. Of course, incurring damage reduces focus. Each ship has their own way of gaining this resource. For the Marauder, I need to stay in that glowing circle to gain focus.
