Oof... what do I say about this one? If I'm lucky, this video won't kill off the LP. Part of the reason why Mario 74 has been on hold for the last decade is because recording it was annoying (mostly because of the shitty. virus-ridden computer we had to use) and I didn't really have anything worthwhile to say about the game. This segment is very reminiscent of that. I was debating if I should even bother uploading it, since it's definitely not one of the better videos I've ever recorded, but I'll get to that in a sec. First, technical issues.

As mentioned at the start, we were able to deinterlace the video and make it look pretty good. And we're not just recording the preview window like before, so that's good. The video didn't take four years to render like the last nine did (I know this was never mentioned before, but we had to wait like a half hour after each segment just so it could take it's slow-ass time to save, and then render the video in order to delete the source video which was way too goddamn large). But.. now there's other problems. This video turned out to be about 23 gigs, which, as I've gone into detail before, is FAR too large for this computer to hold. I'm not sure what the crap is taking up so much space on this computer, but it has a 74.4 GB hard drive, and over half of it is being taken up by ... system files? Programs we don't use? I'm not sure what. The only documents we have saved are images and text files, and I delete videos after uploading them because they take up too much space, so it's not like there's hours of videos and music on here.

So anyway, I had precisely dick to talk about in this video, so Brynna sort of took charge of the commentary (not that I have a problem with this, but I do prefer to actually acknowledge the game that I'm playing when possible). And then after finishing it, we discovered that the length of the audio was like, a good minute and a half longer than the video. I assume this was because of the massive filesize and fact that after the recording was finished, we had like, 50 MB of space left on the computer. So I had to go through the whole thing and try to line things up when possible, but it was really laggy and horrible to work with. Honestly the video wasn't even really worth saving, but I did it anyway because neither of us felt like redoing it.

Long story short, this is the unsatisfactory result of way too much trouble. And it was the only segment we recorded because of the behemoth files VirtualDub seems to produce. At this point we either need to figure out how to make the files come out smaller, or just find a new recording method. I know that trying to redownload Pinnacle is an option, but this computer has a history of hating that program anyway. If we go back to the method we used for parts 1-9, then there's probably still going to be lines in the video, and there's the stupid half-hour wait after each segment, so ... bleh. It's probably going to be another week until I upload more of these unless Brynna feels like doing them in the morning before work. In the meantime we'll just have to make do with Emerald and the last bits of Plok. With me doing the SirRonLionHeart voice the entire time, of course. Because I know how much people loved that.
