Let's Play The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall - Part 15 - We Like Worms
We start up another stream after our lengthy trek to find the Orc Priestess, this time with the plan to go to the places that aren't Daggerfall in the hope of continuing the main quest. That is easier said than done, since I tend to get easily distracted.
Eventually I decide to explore the town of Wayrest, mainly because it is the closer of the two, with it being just a little bit farther than the Wrothgarian Mountains. Sentinel is pretty much on the opposite side of the world, so I don't exactly feel like traveling there right away. Looking at our letters, that means we will be trying to figure out about the letter that Uriel Septim sent to the queen of Daggerfall that never reached her and now he wishes destroyed.
Of course, this takes longer than it should, mainly because I realize something about my Bracelet of Personality. Every time we remove it, we are actually damaging it a bit more, which in turn will eventually result in its destruction. After a desperate hunt around town, we learn the terrible news. It is impossible to repair magic items in this game, making them more of temporary benefits than permanent boosts. That means we shouldn't really focus on getting them like Arena, instead just being thankful when we get them. So much for the great power of these things, especially since we practically broke the bracelet by trying to optimize it everywhere we went. It is going to break soon and there is little we can do.
Eventually I head back to the Wayrest palace, where we bump into a pretty lady with red eyes who is definitely not evil. She tells us that she knows about gossip and letters, but that first she wants me to deliver a letter to the Necromancer cult down the street. We just need to massacre a bunch of stuff and wander around aimlessly in a dungeon to get there. As usual, Ricky foolishly accepts this quest.
Of course, it turns out that this is possibly the easiest quest we have done so far. We go to the dungeon and get stuck in a way that is impossible to get out from, like the previous hellhole, but after that we find almost a direct route to the shrine of the Necromancer people. We see some powerful and deadly things that aren't going to kill me, we fight lots of undead that I couldn't kill before, and we doom humanity by giving a letter to people who praise death. Then it is just a little more aimless exploration and a quick trip back to down; for once we actually got a quest done in a reasonable amount of time!
We also get some plot development about the letter before we pretty much forget it all. Thank goodness for recording all of this stuff so I can remember names of things that didn't get thrown in my journal! So apparently the letter was taken by the Thieves Guild and given to the king of the Orcs, Gortwog. This is brilliant news indeed, especially since we just massacred a lot of his men and therefore he is very likely to want to hand over the letter.
If we want to find this letter, we are advised by the princess to get in good with Mynisera, who is mother to the king of Daggerfall. We apparently shouldn't approach her directly, instead talking to someone of lower station, but the problem is that we don't have any clue where she is. Yeah... I could have been told that. We go back to Daggerfall palace with the hope that randomly talking to people will give me the answer.
