Having cheated death and time, Ricky now is ready to take on the hard quests of Daggerfall. But first he decides to part with the junk he collected, which earns him a heaping amount of gold. 0 gold, which apparently means I "cheated him" and took as much as I could without taking his shirt.

Since I had so many issues with poison last time, I make it my mission to find where they sell potions and stock up on them. This becomes quite the lengthy and random quest, but also manages to educate me on the various stores of Daggerfall. This episode represents a massive shift in my knowledge of towns and what is existent in them.

We also try to claim the quest that we struggled so hard to complete, only to find out that the queen doesn't want it for some reason. In fact, it seems that every NPC in the quest line doesn't want to talk to me. Brilliant, I just broke another quest.

Eventually it occurs to me that I have no idea how to buy things in shops, only sell things, and that some places appear to be places that would actually sell things. I blunder around a bit and eventually figure out the shelves can be clicked on to select what you want, like a container, and you buy what you want or it otherwise just goes back on the shelf. The power to buy things becomes quite important though, since now I can actually get different things, including a full set of armor!

We also find the general store sells a bunch of random junk, but also some very interesting things. Particularly a Wagon, which allows me to store extra junk I don't want clogging my inventory in a convenient way (this also makes the Wagon button actually have purpose finally). We also find a Horse, which would have been useful in that hour long trek. It seems we move slightly faster, but I still feel horses move relatively slow.

I celebrate my new mode of transportation by going on a massacre while on horseback. In fact, I go on quite a few massacres throughout the episode, to the point that this definitely should satisfy Dominus with his requests for it. Now that we have gained a few levels, I can tackle guards a lot easier.

We also start a search for a good Dai-Katana. I blunder across a Dwarven Dai-Katana pretty quickly and am quite happy since it means we won't have to worry about most things being unable to be hit with our current weapon, an annoying thing that plagued our earlier adventures.

Of course, then we find the White Whale itself. The object of the entirety of Elder Scrolls Arena. An Ebony Dai-Katana. I start by trying to buy it, only to learn that it costs 30,000 gold. Not wanting to forget the shop, I decide to try to steal it, worth it for something this good. We end up just being unsuccessful and alerting the authorities, causing more massacres. Eventually we reload and find out the shops reset their inventory every time, meaning we lost our chance to purchase it. The good news is that it seems EVERYTHING in this game is totally randomized, so I could potentially have a chance right around the corner to get another Ebony Dai-Katana. I must remember that shop and be sure to check its wares in the future when we get more money. It seems like I run out of money a lot more than I did in Arena.

In any event, even the Alchemist only serves to get rid of all my weird ingredients, not help with potions. I eventually decide to go to the Mages Guild, but even they have absolutely nothing of use. Pretty much, we learn to avoid being poisoned in the future because NOBODY seems to sell potions in this world. I miss Arena's easy potion system.

We end this part with a return trip to the Shedungent of Wrothgaria, but not without killing a spooky ghost called a Wraith that is a lot less deadly than the Arena variant. Also, it appears the Dwarven Longsword is good enough to actually kill things we run across, meaning no more messages of not being able to kill random stuff (I do appreciate those messages in comparison to Arena's obscure system that left me confused until the eighth piece of the Staff of Chaos). In any event, this part is pretty progressive, seeing some stuff that is better than Arena instead of the usual stuff that is worse than Arena. We get a useless horse, we get a responsive death system, and we get a system that is less frustrating to hunt for an Ebony Dai-Katana (though it totally requires luck, which could be even worse...)
