Let's Play Titanfall 2 | Chapter 4: Effect and Cause | A Fracture in Time | The Mission & The Stakes
2Welcome back to Titanfall 2, a first person shooter that was released in 2016 and is a sequel to Titanfall, the multiplayer only competitive shooter. The game focuses on the story of Rifleman Cooper as he receives training to become a Titan pilot and his bond with his Titan, B-7274, on the planet Typhon when their invasion is met with heavy resistance and the mission goes astray. Now, they must work together to find a way to uphold the original mission as a part of the Marine Special Recon Service against the reign of the IMC that has been conquering and destroying planets. The game features enhanced mobility as the player can run along walls and shoot enemies in fast, fluid fashion and has various platforming elements in addition to the ability to pilot a mech known as a Titan that often finds its place fighting other Titans or obliterating enemy pilots and infantry alike.
After having narrowly escaped the Shortcut which turned out to be IMC Mercenary Ash's base of operations and surviving her demented games, BT-7274 and Acting Pilot Jack Cooper finally make it to where Major Anderson's signal is currently being emitted. It seems to be an abandoned IMC research facility without any signs of human life whatsoever. Although, that is no sign of the lack of danger for there are many beasts roaming around, including a new kind of Winged Beast. As it later turns out, though, this Winged Creature is not interested in humans.
BT and Cooper agree to split up so that Cooper may silently provide reconnaissance on the facility and deem its safety before pressing on. He doesn't find much life at all but comes across something very strange: a series of flashbacks as if he had been living there at some point in the past. BT's scans indicate the presence of an anomaly in the region that pushes people through the fabric of space and time and sends them into the past for a brief period of time.
Navigating through this series of time-jumps, Cooper finally clears the facility and heads onwards to find Major Anderson. He succeeds shortly, but it turns out that Major Anderson has died while being somehow stuck in the roof. He retrieves his helmet for BT and a scan indicates that the Militia was actually here on Typhon after detecting a surge of temporal energy from the experiments that the IMC was conducting in this very lab. As a result, Cooper has now been assigned the ownership of this mission and it is now his responsibility to find the evidence that the Militia SRS Marines were trying to find. BT Carves a path for Cooper and tells him to find Anderson's bracelet.
After a journey through treacherous and deceiving terrain, Cooper finally finds Anderson's bottom half and as it turns out, the bracelet allows him to consciously travel back and forth in time. Now, he must investigate the logs from Cooper's helmets to figure out what he was looking for.
The series of logs that Cooper had recorded turned out to be an investigation into the research of an IMC weapon known only as the Arc. This weapon allows them to manipulate time and the IMC was expecting to use it to destroy other planets when they would have provided lesser resistance to their advance by jumping into the past. Now all that remains is to scan the Ark itself.
Cooper returns to BT and after a brief series of travels back and forth between the past and the present, Cooper gets caught up in the explosion of the Arc and finds himself trapped in a fractured moment of time. He utilises the pause in the flow of time to climb up to the exploding Arc and scan it. Once finished, he wakes up with the data in front of BT in the present. Now all that remains is to transmit it back to the Militia.
