Let's Play Mirror's Edge | Prologue: Training | Tutorial | Learning the ropes with Celeste
3Welcome to Mirror's Edge, a 3D platformer that focuses on momentum, flow, and parkour where you play as Faith Connors. The world has changed in the future and cities are now protected and run by private corporations instead of Governments. In such cities, there exist runners who live on the edge between the illusion created by the companies and the harsh reality of life and transport sensitive material across rooftops while avoiding law enforcement. One such runner, Faith, has a sister, Kate, who is a cop. One day, she gets framed for the murder of a mayoral candidate. Now, Faith must get to the bottom of the matter and dig out all the dirt that she can find so that her sister does not get wrongfully convicted of a crime that she did not commit. The game also features elements of combat, but running is more encouraged as combat is quite difficult.
Faith Connors, a runner, recently took a fall and went out of commission. Now that she is back, her handler puts her under some training just to get her moving again and get her ready to face the everyday challenges of being a runner.
The training starts off with some simple war-up drills and then moves on to simple parkour such as vaults and slides and bashing doors open. This is where Celeste, or Cel, meets Faith and helps train her further. She shows her the more advanced parkour moves such as balancing on beams, running on walls, scaling them, and making high-impact jumps safely.
The training then moves on to combat, for while combat is the last resort for a runner, it is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war. The training starts off with simple striking and then moves on to power strikes and then finally, disarms. It is at this point that the training is completed and both the runners are called to perform their actual duties.
