While the game tries to convey a sense of urgency about having to stop Hydros from flooding Tenebrae, this is entirely counteracted by the knowledge the player has already gained that the game is event driven from Devon's imprisonment. Things won't progress in the story until the Avatar does certain things so no matter how much time we waste not saving the island, the island will remain in the same state of soon-to-be doomed. We should definitely work towards saving Tenebrae however and while we're with the sorcerers, we can try and see if they'll train us in their magics so we can work towards becoming stronger the Pyros. To do that we'll first have to find the sorcerers and with only Devon's vague instructions to go on, it might take some searching.

I'm surprised that people haven't learned of the Avatar's position among the necromancers. Nobody mentions it despite the prominence that being the scion of the necromancer is supposed to carry and no matter how secluded you are on the island, the news would eventually spread to them. The people who revere the other titans would surely view the Avatar with some suspicion upon his arrival and desire to learn of their magics. On the other hand not much time has actually passed; it can't have been more then a week since the Avatar arrived on Pagan and even less time since he become the apprentice to Vividos, a man who rarely heads into Tenebrae which would certainly hamper the spread of the news of the Avatar's position among the necromancers. As long as the Avatar keeps moving faster then the news of his achievements, we'll be just fine.

That or the fact that most of the people we meet weren't coded to ever acknowledge all that we've achieved. That's more likely but hey, it might be the other explanation instead.
