Let's Play Wolfenstein: The New Order [Part 35 - Final] - Resolution
Final boss gameplay from Wolfenstein: The New Order. Also we get to see the ending cutscenes and how the story is finally resolved. Also the credits are here.
But all that stuff is a story for a later paragraph, for now lets focus on the gameplay involved in the final boss fight of Wolfenstein: The New Order. So the final boss fight has three phases, each with some unique gameplay twist or trick involved. The first phase is fighting against Feargus-bot (Wyatt-bot is you picked Wyatt in the first chapter). To defeat Feargus bot, the trick is that on the four corners of the map, there are some crates. You can destory these crates using the knife to get some tesla grenades. If you've been playing Wolfenstein The New Order up until this point, you're well aware of the utility of tesla grenades against robots. The basically shut them down. A Very useful tool from a gameplay standpoint at any point in the narrative, but even more so during this climatic moment; in fact they're required. So toss a grenade at the mecha-Feargus (or mecha-Wyatt), and after it goes boom, you need to book it (press the sprint button) right next to the robot and tap E (or whatever your interact button is). This will defeat this phase of the boss fight and trigger a cutscene about how Deathshead is a jerk and Feargus/Wyatt just wants to die already. Also there's some foreshadowing about the ending that's actually a massive spoiler about the story so I wont mention it here.
Phase 2 involved Deathshead popping out of the ground in a giant mecha suit. You can shoot him, but Mecha-Deathshead has a tesla shield making him invulnerable. Instead, you have to cut through the metal grates using the Laserkraftswerk gun (which you inexplicably have), run up the stairs to the turrets on either side and gun down the two zeppelins on either side. This will ruin Mecha-Deathshead's Tesla shield charging thingy. And then, finally you can do something that we'd expect out of an FPS game like Wolfenstein and shoot the guy. Seriously, I thought FPS implied shooting gameplay, not running around like a wuss gameplay.
The third and final phase of the fight involves descending into the underworld and facing Mecha-Deathshead in some kind of boiler room. This is pretty straightforward. Just shoot the Robot-Deathshead until it dies. The more you damage him, the more the room will be filled with fire (which hurts you). Deathshead will also drop pieces of armor as you damage him, like most robots in Wolfesntein The New Order. There are also some supplies and charging stations scattered about this level. I mostly use the laser gun, the Assault Rifle's grenade launcher, and some tesla grenades to take down the final boss.
Once you've beaten Deathshead, just sit back and enjoy the ending to Wolfenstein: The New Order's narrative and storyline. Or watch it in the video. It's not like the story's going to change. Well, maybe if you choose Feargus instead of Wyatt it could. Hmm. Either way, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a great game with a good story, and even a pretty nice ending and an okay final boss fight. Oh, and fantastic gameplay for the most part. Can't forget that. Great job MachineGames!
