Roguescape is a little rogue dungeon game inspired by Spelunky. It's cute, but the controls were frustrating to the point of making it difficult to really play. It's cute and I'm sure there's some real fun to be had with it, but I couldn't get past my control issues.
The World Begins With You is basically someone looking at Inside and saying "I could do that!" but also "what if more mazes?". It was a pretty game, and it had a very distinct feel to it that I appreciated, but the biggest detractor to the game is the camera, which is the real antagonist of the game. The number of falls and deaths I got because of the camera was way more than it should be.
Backbone is a game that isn't out yet, but I got my hands on the demo to try. It's a P&C noir detective game set in a dystopian future Vancouver, but everyone is an animal because why not. You play as a detective given a typical infidelity case, and things go sideways in a pretty dramatic way. I am super looking forward to the real release of the game.
Sidewords was a surprise to me. I picked it as a bit of an afterthought, and ended up losing almost half an hour to it! It's all about making words to fill in a grid. the mechanics are pretty straight-forward, and there's no real fail state to any level. Your biggest opponent is yourself. It also comes with an alternate game mode that is basically Threes meets Boggle, and it's pretty great in itself, if a bit intimidating.
