The Gameplay Ability System (GAS) in Unreal Engine is a powerful framework that can be applied to virtually any type of game to build foundational systems and modular components. From story and puzzles to combat, player interactions, quest flow, NPC logic, and physicalized items - the list goes on - nearly every aspect of a game can benefit from GAS.
I want to show how powerful this system really is: how you can use it in your own projects, and how we leveraged it in “Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate”. It gave us tremendous flexibility in developing new levels, gameplay mechanics, interactables, and narrative elements.
