Of course, he's a complete noob at combat and he'll have to learn not to depend on his experienced mage servant if he wants to survive this dangerous world. Additionally, researching this legend might lead to him becoming part of a new one.

King Rogrio was really an evil usurper the whole time, and he had the Zsagni queen assassinated. We also learn that Yvlor went mad because of his relationship with Princess Nyo. A lot of the problems of this setting can be traced back to this dickhead.
