In this chapter, Sean and Daniel make the acquaintance of their next door neighbor Chris Eriksen, a young lad with about ten times the imagination of the brothers combined but, as it seems, a fairly traumatic relationship with his dad, Charles. Despite Sean's warnings, Daniel now cannot resist leaving the house to play with his new friend, whom he has actually tricked into thinking that he has got (Daniel's) superpowers, and ultimately persuades Sean to be taken by the elder Eriksen to the Christmas market while their grandparents attend a church service.
