Light Crusader shenanigans
In a recent playthrough I did, I had some pretty weird things happen to me. Some of these will make more sense if you saw my debug video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpvqoAUTvqE) and if you read TCRF's page (http://tcrf.net/Light_Crusader).
0:00 This tree in the castle is somehow attackable. David can home onto it and when struck, some particles fly out of it.
0:17 If you press 2 opposite directions simultaneously, David will walk in place. Although, if you keep them pressed for too long, the controller will be considered disconnected for a second. I also mentioned this in the ABOUT THIS debug function on the other video.
0:26 It's possible to reach that chest without dropping the rocks. You just need to go to a platform, jump (so the platform will rise to its highest position again), and jump on it on the very first possible frame. This can be done on a real console: I was able to make the first jump around 1 out of 5 tries, but doing all 3 jumps perfectly is very hard. For this clip, I used frameskip and save states.
0:33 I tried to jump on that ball for no reason, and I just spazzed out when the ball changed direction. I don't know if you can see it, but David stands on the "falling" animation for a single frame on every turn of the ball. Those sounds you hear are David "landing" on it.
0:40 A tiny limitation of the game. The goblins' faces are loaded with the regular palette, and only after a frame do they change to the goblin palette. The editing wasn't that good, but it's as best as I could do with Movie Maker.
0:53 The ceiling on top of this entrance isn't tangible.
1:04 In some corners, if you press against it while you're falling, David will get stuck in a free fall. This is actually one of the worse corners to do this on, but I couldn't find any of the corners I used to do this on when I was a kid.
1:19 There is a door here, but it went unused. This is explained on TCRF's article (http://tcrf.net/Light_Crusader#City.2C_room_0B).
1:29 A similar door. This is also explained at TCRF (http://tcrf.net/Light_Crusader#Floor_1.2C_room_0B).
1:37 Pretty well known trick. You can move (but not attack) before the game says "Fight!" If you're fast enough, by the time the fight starts, you already pushed 2 goblins and are just about to kick the last one away. I thought David was disguised as a goblin, not a troll.
1:56 Just a tiny exploit of sorts. You can fall and escape without dying if you leave through a door while you're invincible.
