Lima 149878 TGV Thalys PBKA 4321 Train Pack (HO Scale) Review HD
This is a review of the Lima TGV Thalys PBKA Train Pack that was released around 2000/2001 and this would make this pack around 14 years old. I am a big fan of the TGV trains and this is still a great pack even though Lima ceased operation in 2004 and was taken over by Hornby. As you should expect with the Lima model trains, this TGV set comes with a great amount of detailing parts that you will need to fit yourself and these just clip into place with aid of some tweezers, glue isn't necessary but its entirely up to the modeller if they wish to glue the parts in place. The powered unit has a central can motor which is a 5 pole type with all wheel drive and the unit has a metal diecast chassis as well. This will provide more than enough traction and inertia to power a full 8 coach set as per the real thing. The power and non-powered locomotives have directional head/tail lights although they are a bit dull due to the setup being bulb type rather than LED's. There is no DCC interface either on this model because DCC wasn't introduced until around 2004/5 well after this pack was released. Hornby/Jouef now own this tooling from when Hornby took over the Lima group in 2004, so spares might be available from them under the Hornby International range. But I cannot guarantee that the parts will be the same or not as Hornby have improved the models under the Jouef brand. The power units do have metal working pantographs and there is a selector switch under the cover which can pickup via the rails or from a working catenary system. I do apologise for getting tongue-tied in some bits of the video as I was a bit tired when I made this review. I normally edit them out but I have just left them in the video as I am not perfect and even I make mistakes at times and I just wanted to prove that I am just a human being. Anyway this is a cracking set from Lima and it earns a great score from me :).
Overall Rating: 10/10.
