Piko 95171 BB67400 Diesel Locomotive SNCF Fret (HO Scale) Review HD
This is a review of the Piko SNCF BB67400 Diesel Locomotive (also known as the French Class 67) in the SNCF "Fret" livery and in my opinion this livery suits the BB 67400 along with the "en voyage" livery. The model is DCC ready by default but my example was fitted with a decoder as I bought the decoder at the same time as I want this locomotive on DCC in the future. The detail is basic and there is only headlights on this model with no working tail lights which is a shame as would have expected working tail lights considering that this model has all wheel drive with a central can motor and a metal chassis. There is a mountain of paperwork that comes with this model train and it took longer to get through this so apologies the time consumed there. I used some Lima SNCF RIO/RIB commuter carriages as the real locomotives did run with these in France before the RIO/RIB stock was withdrawn from active service. I am not sure if there is any of these locomotives still in service with SNCF or if they are now stored/scrapped. But meanwhile staying with the model, the performance is good although not as smooth as the new Jouef version. But its still a great model and the price of 60 Euros that I paid for this model locomotive is low enough for the newcomer into continental model railways.
