0How much do the Linux CPU Mitigations such as Meltdown & Spectre affect older AMD CPUs like A-series and FX-series?
This is technically Brunchmarks season 2 episode 1 but there's no way I could fit that into the title of the video ^_^.
I opted to test on Linux Mint 19.3 because I already had it installed on my test rig for Distro Delves season 2 episode 2. Linux Mint is a derivative of Ubuntu anyway so its practically the same, right?
This video only tests AMD CPUs, specifically older ones - A series & FX series processors. Ryzen & Intel CPUs weren't tested simply because I don't have any.
I was sick with the flu when I recorded the voice over for this video and I reused some footage from that Distro Delves episode. Sorry for the overall quality of the video - I was expecting to see more of a performance difference. Since there was hardly any, there wasn't much to show in the video.
