Let's Install Windows 3.1 in DOSBox
There's no functional purpose to install Windows 3.1 in DOSBox because DOSBox itself can run pretty much any DOS game or application you need. The exceptions to this are software specifically made for Windows 9x.
The video was a lot of work to produce, but it was really fun! This was my first time installing Windows in DOSBox; the footage you are watching was literally me doing it for the first time.
I didn't expect this video to be such a production. I got the idea to install it almost as a joke before I realized it would be a great candidate for a Distro Delves video. Stay tuned for that next year!
Special thanks to RTheren & tuxuku for helping with this video 😉
Disclaimer - Windows, even old versions of it, is not freeware and you can't just "download" a copy of it legally, so I can't recommend doing so.
The SoundBlaster 16 drivers I used can be found here - http://www.sierrahelp.com/Utilities/Emulators/DOSBox/3x_InstallSB.html
I used the S3 Vision836 display drivers. Links to the drivers can be found here - http://www.sierrahelp.com/Utilities/Emulators/DOSBox/3x_InstallGraphicsDrivers.html#S3
