One of the good news is securing funding for the future development of this distribution. Linux Mint has been able to raise financial support from over 500 independent volunteer contributors. Compared to the month of June, during which the number of donors was around 380, this is an interesting increase in support from the user community.
What’s New in GNOME 41 ! Coming Soon,,,
The release of the latest stable version of Linux Mint 20.2 has received positive reviews, and developers have been able to bring some of the standalone improvements and fixes to older supported versions 20, 20.1 or LMDE 4, through package updates. The next version of Linux Mint 20.3 is already in development and its release, according to the developers’ plans, should come around the Christmas holidays this year.
KDE Plasma 5.23 will improve power management and boot menu
At the same time, a new distribution website was introduced, but it is still being prepared. This update to the page will bring about the first significant design changes in about thirteen years and should eliminate issues with proper display on different devices. The community has the opportunity to participate in its successful completion. More information can also be found in a separate repository on GitHub.

Windows 11 is rumored to be released in October, and since it is already in the Beta Channel, that rumor seems plausible. So, yeah, Microsoft is sure to dominate headlines in the final quarter of the year.
While a new version of Windows is surely exciting, that won't be the only operating system getting a new version later in the year. You see, the Linux Mint developers have shared some exciting news about when version 20.3 of the Ubuntu-based distro will be available for download.
In a blog post that mostly focuses on the current Linux Mint 20.2 and a planned website redesign (yawn), head developer Clement Lefebvre slips in an actual interesting tidbit. Lefebvre says, "The next development cycle is now open and the next target is Linux Mint 20.3. It is planned for Christmas 2021."
Does this mean Linux Mint 20.3 will definitely be released by Christmas? No, it is not a guarantee. With that said, the Mint developers are usually pretty reliable when it comes to deadlines, so it should be safe to expect a new version of the Linux distro under your Christmas tree this year -- figuratively speaking, of course.
