This is the longplay of the game Android Assault: The Revenge of Bari-Arm (also known as just Bari-Arm/バリ・アーム, in Japan or in more simplified writing). It is a shoot 'em up action game produced by Human Entertainment. Was distributed and released in 1993 by Human Entertainment in Japan and by Big Fun Games in the United States. It is a Sega CD exclusive game.
The story of the game takes place in the year 2192, when humanity advances in space travel and colonization. In that same period, colonists near the planet Jupiter are attacked by the independent military nation of Zias, based in the Saturn colony on Olympus. Zias uses a symbiotic computer system and multiple mech factories powered by a device called the GEO as his main striking force.
Several human scientists studied Zias' technology and, based on the Zias GEO system, managed to build a type of space fighter capable of fighting the Zias: the Bari-arm, a spaceship capable of using multiple weapons and transforming into a robot. giant with the same capabilities and combat mode as the Zia cyborgs. The Bari-arm is piloted by two young pilots, who are tasked with destroying the new GEO system before the Zia war machines destroy any other colonies and eradicate humanity forever.
The game is a horizontal shooter, but it has several differences from other games in the genre. The Bari-Arm can use weapons of 4 different types and colors, each of which can be upgraded up to three times by collecting powerups. When collecting the third, your ship transforms into a giant robot, making the shots more powerful and increasing the weapon's loading speed. The way to use shots is completely different: when holding the fire button, the ship fires shots very quickly, while if the fire button is not pressed, the ship will charge the shot automatically (unlike other games, like R- Type, where you need to hold down the fire button to charge a more powerful shot). There is also another button to control the ship's speed to better adapt to certain situations (similar to Gaiares, from the Sega Genesis). The game has good graphics and a very good soundtrack, in addition to animated cutscenes. The video was recorded on the Mania level.
