ER Mode has different gameplay mechanics when it comes to enemy bullets. Dot Eater Mode or DE Mode is where you absorb the corresponding color of the enemy bullet with the corresponding color of the shield while you'll need to avoid the enemy bullet of the opposite color, similar to the gameplay of Ikaruga.
