Elden Stars is a spell that's more annoying than it is useful but if you try to just ignore it the big orb catches up to you and does a lot of damage. Most who use it cast it and then just stay far away, making it trivial to move out of its range. If the spell does catch up to someone most will want to run and roll spam away from the small projectiles constantly raining down on them.

Since many players are not used to dealing with such constant projectile spam they'll really struggle if an enemy player starts chasing them or targeting them with other actions during the chaos. Effectively making Elden Stars a temporary teammate of sorts which can potentially do a lot of damage if the timing is right. Alternatively it can also be used to temporarily separate and isolate a player away from their team.
