Normally, the maximum amount of coins you can get in Coin Runners is 10.
In reality, the game sets this limit to 99 for this mode exclusively, but other code prevents more than 10 coins to be added up.

If we remove said code, we can collect up to 99 coins as the developers intended. I demonstrate this on this video by collecting more than 10 coins in a match.
At the end of the video, a snippet of the code that sets the max. limit to 99 is shown.
