Anyway, as of late, I've been trying to find ways to improve the quality of my videos. The goal: Attaining the same level of detail on the computer--and on YouTube--as I do on my TV. C'mon, the TV I play these games on are from the 70s. I use ancient coaxial cables. It has freaking KNOBS FOR CONTROLS. Are you telling me that a computer I got in 2007 can't handle it?

I've recently figured out the wonders of H.264 compression, which have improved my video quality substantially...and while it doesn't distort shapes or render text unreadable like MP4 compression H.264 gives a strange overall blurriness to the whole thing, and it doesn't handle low levels of contrast too well. It's hard to explain...

Race #4
GCN DK Mountain
Whoops, I messed up the turbo start in this one. And it's a mistake that'll haunt me this entire race. I'm not sure if you know about it or not, but I find people to grow increasingly unfriendly to me as I stay in a room. There were a few people here determined to push me down at the cost of their own rank. Whenever I get hit a bit too often, I take a look at who's been attacking me, and in this case, it's Rodolphe and Monica. Monica in particular I'm suspicious of, since I see a lot of Bullet Bills coming from her. I saw it happen once at the previous race in Toad's Factory, and I see it twice here. Bullet Bills are supposed to be pretty rare, since they pretty much allow you to outrun anything and guarantee to catch yourself up. Or is she playing that bad that I constantly spot Bullet Bills from her?

Race #5
Koopa Cape
The room is, well, not-so-nice. A Bob-omb shows up right from the first set of Item Boxes. People say they find it odd that an early beating in a Mario Kart race spells my doom, since they say that everyone's close together and you can easily catch up. Me, catching up is hard to so. You're basically dealing with a group of people who may or may not be surly and will certainly not allow you to simply pass ahead of them. If you can maintain a lead and keep it within the first lap, you'll be relatively safe because everyone will be spread out too far for most item attacks to even reach or, if they do, cause any great harm to you. While I didn't have to maneuver around a battlefield this time around, I foudn the lead utterly out of my grasp. Why? Well, I'm a player who got hit by a Bob-omb and Chavez (Diddy Kong) is a player who did not. If he plays at about the same level as me, he'd be a few seconds in front and thus out of my range. He only needs to use items to defend himself while I need them to defend myself, attack others, and try to get ahead.

Race #6
DS Delfino Square
Here's an argument in favor of Blue Shells. Actually, it's in favor of preventing people from holding items behind them in the first place. Or in 1st place, I guess you could say. For some time, I was playing a close game with Walker up at the front. I got shot by a Red Shell sometime in the middle of the first lap, and also shot were my chances at passing Walker. The competition in this race was fierce, and people were tossing everything at each other to try to keept the lead. What that means is that everyone is slowing each other down--except Walker, who grew increasingly distanced from everybody because he doesn't have to slow down. A Blue Shell went flying at the end of the second lap (for me), but by then, the lead had become so huge that a Blue Shell blast has become puny. I think Nintendo knew about this problem in advance and designed the Blue Shell to be the way it is: To narrow gaps like these. Unfortunately, there weren't ENOUGh of them in this game to keep the race close.
