NASA is launching a "Going to Mars" campaign to coincide with the MAVEN spacecraft launch to help us study Mars' upper atmosphere-- specifically to see why Mars lost its atmosphere and why there is no longer any water on the Red Planet.
MAVEN will launch in November, complete with literary messages from earthlings-- three haikus will be chosen to be placed aboard in their entirety, and everyone who participates will get their name added to the DVD. Everyone on earth is encouraged to apply, and can do so until July 1. On July 15, the haikus will go live and the public will get to vote on the winners.
