Marvel What If Episode 8 Ending Explained + What If Episode 9 POST CREDIT SCENE Predictions
33Alright, so the new episode of Marvel What If Episode 8 had an ending so explosive, but we have to talk about Doctor Strange Supreme’s recruitment and what it means for the multiversal hero team-up.
So, first, why would Uatu the Watcher go to Doctor Strange supreme at all? Well, given that Ultron’s directives are to achieve peace, then Ultron has no need to go to Doctor Strange’s universe, now that has imploded into an interdimensional figment. Also, Doctor Strange Supreme is the only one outside of Ultron that Uatu has personally spoken to; and in the comics, the pair were pretty tight too, especially during the civil war run.
But, this means that we will be seeing the multiversal heroes team-up from all those trailer shots, Captain Carter even donning a new suit, similar to the stealth suit that cap wore in his sequel film, so I assume Captain Carter is picked up from when she is on that boat. Then, there is killmonger in there too, my guess is that they will show that he is about to be overrun by the forces of wakanda and then boom! Teleports. We have yet to see how Party Thor survives his what if episode 7 ending, but he’s here too, so he’s probably teleported right then and there. As for Thanos Gamora, her episode was likely the one where Tony goes to Sakaar; so her introduction might seem a little out of place, but we’ll see. You could argue that from episode 3, we’ll see the Watcher recruit Hank, I mean he doesn’t recruit Killmonger, so it’s not a long shot.
More on those previous trailers, party thor notes that zombies are a great idea, meaning that we will see conclusions to those open ends left at the end of the other episodes, like Ego using Peter as a battery from the end of episode 2, I’m just happy to see that we will get a conclusion of some kind to that Zombies episode, because that open end is easily the most frustrating of them all.
So, What about the episode 9 post credit scene? Well, it’s got to tease an upcoming project or season 2, it would be especially mind blowing if we see the watcher enter in the MCU in a cool transition from animation to live action CGI and the only reason that he would need to do that is if this episode 9 post credit scene teases the events of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness which comes out this march - so, let’s say Doctor Strange starts to enter the multiverse, and he gets watcher interference or something, who knows, or it could be scenes teasing the iron man sakaar episode, but that would be very underwhelming, I’d much rather something that expands the multiverse further or even confirming a season 2 like how Loki did in that show’s post credit scene.
Since Marvel has been so comfortable with killing off our characters, I can predict that some of these ones may die, like Black Widow, like Thanos Gamora, and most likely Killmonger, but it would be a great arc thread for Party Thor to sacrifice himself and especially Doctor Strange Supreme because now he has nothing to lose.
Since there is so much ground to cover in this upcoming episode 9 we need to rally behind an hour-long finale, but I honestly do not think we will be getting that simply because this episode was 30 minutes long and the bulk of it was dedicated to setting up the finale - And, come on we need to see the watcher interfere too! Once he does, everything will get flipped upside down. Heck, I kind of want to know more about Uatu’s backstory ever since he talked about taking an oath and everything, I seriously wouldn’t mind seeing a recap and giving the watcher his own little five minute segment delving into his story, because he’s going to have to explain his situation to the multiversal heroes that he plucks out of the multiverse and into the one planet where they all meet up. Maybe not even that, I could see Uatu giving Doctor Strange the go ahead to speak for him.
This coming Monday we’ll get the first look with character posters, then Tuesday we’ll get that official trailer, so get hyped for those!
