Too big for a DLC, too small for a £70 game (although they did it at the time) - but there is a lot to like about Miles Morales. For starters, the game makes full use of the PS5 hardware and the scenery and movements are absolutely stunning - and it was a highlight of my first ever PlayStation 5 game to clumsily swing through Central Park in Winter.

As cold as the weather is supposed to be, the story is one of warmth as Miles tries to get to grips with being the only Spider-Man in town for the holidays, protecting his home borough of Harlem, and the struggles of navigating relationships with people he cares about. Insomniac seem to have grip on storytelling and do really well with the narrative.

Where it perhaps doesn't have a grip is the monotony of side quests which are either repetitive, tired, or downright boring (ugh... whilst original, that sound sample quest). Still, this was never supposed to be a sequel - more Spider-Man 1.5 - and the new moves, gadgets, suits and enemies almost make you forget that it hasn't reinvented the wheel. Almost.
