Marvel's Spider-Man - Part 5
0It's wild to think that the greatest superhero videogame ever was released 5 years ago, and is still just as much fun to play as it was on release.
The story is well-written and compelling, and you genuinely care about the characters and what they go through in each of the three acts - from Peter watching Doctor Octavius deteriorate as he works on prosthetics, Well-meaning characters descending into madness and the tragedy of Miles Morales. I love that it treats the source material for the characters with respect, whilst also making them unique to this particular universe.
The best part about this is the gameplay and how they've created a miniature New York (I was actually able to find my way around the real NYC when I visited, thanks to this game and how accurate some of the locations are). You can lose hours just by aimlessly swinging around and taking in the environment. It's easy to get to grips with, and the combat is a highlight for me - taking a lot from the Arkham games and making it better.
Aside from the story there's plenty to do with side missions, taskmaster's challenges and a bunch of collectibles. Remastered adds some quality of life updates such as improved character models, no scenery pop-ins, ray tracing, and lightning fast load times. My one gripe is that the side missions can be dull or tedious. Other than that, it's near-perfect.
