This guide details a recommended build order, party composition and quest order to better navigate Insanity difficulty in Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

To begin, I recommend choosing the Sentinel as a class. It provides utility, defense and support in all three games which is perfect for Sheppard and gives a bonus to the whole party. In Mass Effect 1, you get access to Medicine and First Aid to keep your party healthy. In Mass Effect 2, you get Tech Armor which can be used to reset the cooldown of your companions. Finally in Mass Effect 3, the Sentinel gets a unique upgrade to the Fitness power which allows for a health buff to your whole party.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition has edited the achievements from the base game so that you get bonuses for completing 5 missions with a companion. For that reason I recommend using Ashley and Kaiden for the first 5 missions (Eden Prime, 3 Citidel Missions, then Find Liara T'soni. Use Ashley for Weapon damage while Kaiden and Sheppard split the Sentinel Powers. Have Sheppard learn First Aid, Medicine, Barrier and Stasis to keep him and the team alive. It's more important for Sheppard to have defensive talents as if he dies the game is over, but he can always heal his party members with enough points in Medicine. Kaiden can focus on opening locks and disabling enemies, put his points into Throw, Lift, Decryption and Electronics.
