Mavericks 3: Zero's Revenge is the third in a series of three (soon to be four I believe) rpg fangames created by Sigmav set in the Megaman X universe.

Time to kick off the festivities with the second set of mavericks by tackling Izzy Glow's stage.

Enemy wise, Sigma's purple ghostly face inflicts berserk and the puddles can inflict poison. Even combined, the two never pop up in groups of 3 or more, meaning Fefnir can delete one with Ground Blast (wipe out the puddle if you have to choose) while X & Zero can use Gemini Laser to drop another.

This stage is also the first one to prominently feature instant death traps. You could let a block phase out from underneath you, making you fall into spikes as a result, or you could ram into a yellow laser. Both are quite easy to get around though. The former you just jump from block to block with your Z button, the latter you can air dash through if necessary.

Those disappearing blocks are also where you can get to another piece of the Ultimate X Armor, but I don't grab it here. I'll pick it up later.

For now, how about I mention the mid boss? It has three attacks. Laser Device 1 & 2 hit the party for around the 200 damage mark while its attack where it attacks itself hits for 230 to the party.

Here's the problem with this fight...it's fast enough that I'm basically going to be burning through resources just to keep X & Zero alive every other turn.

The solution? Let them get ko'd and have Fefnir solo most of this fight. All he needs is one, maybe two Special Tanks.

Now, since the number you see above a boss's head when they do an animated attack is never 100% accurate, I have Fefnir begin reviving the other two when I see the number hovering around 1600-2000. That's close enough to the end that I'm not going to burn through tons of supplies keeping two people alive.

Also...fun fact about the Reboot item. The animation for it is Iris holding a heart tank. I find it amusing that it's Iris, considering the events of the last game.

After getting out of the mini boss room and past the next room, you'll want to go up the first ladder you see. You'll get to a battlefield and some loot to grab. For the former, it's not 5 battles like the previous battlefields have been, but rather 10. All the better for me because X & Zero really need the experience right now. Go all out in clearing this battlefield because there's a reploid nearby to provide a free full heal for the party.

For clearing the battlefield, you'll get 5k metals. Very nice reward which is going to get put towards something special a couple stages down the road.

Anyways, after some weaving through another disappearing block room, it's time for the main boss.

Izzy Glow is much like the mini boss...a real pain in the ass for my low level duo. All of his attacks hit the entire party. He's got the butt laser which can be fired downwards (250 damage) or horizontally (300 damage). Also, he can fire off a giant energy ball (350 damage).

X & Zero are just barely good enough stat wise that I let them stay alive to help out with damage dealing. Of course, that means I have to have lighting quick reflexes to use a healing item with those two anytime someone needs it (or not screwing it up and getting one my characters ko'd like I did here).

Aside from that, Gemini Laser & Ground Blast spam is the name of the game here.

Glow Laser is your skill reward here. Hits all enemies. If your some kind of space enemy, have fun going down in one hit from this. Costs 30 WE to fire off each time.
