Mavericks 3: Zero's Revenge is the third in a series of three (soon to be four I believe) rpg fangames created by Sigmav set in the Megaman X universe.

Next stage and we're already getting a classic Mega Man game villain tossed in to the grinder. Lovely!

Anyways, enemies have stepped up their game a bit. Anything that isn't small is going to get a X Missile MkI or Saber Maximum in their face. The only exception to the small enemy rule is the enemy that apparently wants to eat the floor up. These guys can inflict poison and I don't want that.

Of interest early on is the ladder obscured by a bunch of orbs. If you climb it, you'll eventually reach a generator that can be destroyed. More importantly, you can go west from that generator to a hidden area with a ladder. I don't go up it, but it leads to a capsule. Yeah, the Ultimate X Armor can be assembled in this game too. That means I'm skipping it for the time being because I don't need an inevitable lv99 titan in the party.

Anyways, back at the orb obscured ladder, going east leads into the next room. If you climb the two ladders, you'll see an enemy in front of a door. Normally, I would skip this, but I wanted to show off what's behind the door besides loot, a reploid. Talk to him and he'll be rescued, providing a full heal for the party, exactly like the one you get after a boss fight. That goes well with the battlefield just outside of this room, accessible with an air dash over to it. Clear out the battles there and you'll get five Special Tanks.

Moving deeper into the level, you'll find a save point next to a set of orbs you can pass through. Beyond them to the east is a room with a heart tank in it. If you pick it up, everyone on your team gets a free level. These are ideally saved until the very end where they'd have much more value tied to them.

Other than that, it's a straight shot to the boss gates (and managing to dodge an otherwise tricky enemy right before the gates amusingly enough).

Gemini Man's first phase has him utilizing his ability to create a copy of himself. Both attacks that can be used in the first phase, Gemini Shot & Gemini Blast, hit all characters. Gemini Shot does around 20 or so damage while Gemini Blast can do closer to 40 damage. It can add up with two enemies attacking at once so pick a target and blast it hard to force Gemini Man into his second phase. He loses his copy and his first two attacks, but gains Gemini Laser which hits a single target for ~60 damage or floats into the air and spams huge lasers for 60 damage to both characters.

Definitely a step up in difficulty compared to the last boss, that's for sure. All of those attacks that can hit both characters adds up after awhile.

New skill acquired here is the Gemini Laser. Hits a single target, is effective against bio enemies, and can inflict poison. Not bad for a WE cost of 10.
