After shootout in Roscoe Street subway station, Max heads to the run down motel controlled by Jack Lupino's men in order to finally eliminate him, believing that he is responsible for Alex's death while NYPD believes that Max Payne is responsible due to being seen leaving the subway shortly after the murder and due to his official status as a criminal. However, Max quickly realizes that Lupino has found out about Max's undercover status and ordered his men to kill him with Max opting to go after Lupino's right-hand man Vinnie Gognitti in order to find out where Lupino is hiding out, firstly deciding to disrupt Lupino's Valkyr operation further by breaking up a drug deal happening somewhere in a hotel and killing mob assassin Rico Muerte who was hired by Punchinello Crime Family as a security...
