Gabe finally enters missile silo and finds R-9 Devyatka about to launch. After retrieving self-destruct codes meant to destroy the missile via command computer, Gabe is confronted by Markinson who reveals to have allied himself with Rohmer in order to secure Syphon Filter for The Agency and by extension, US government which would then have extremely potent bio weapon as an deterrent in its arsenal. However, before he can reveal any more, Markinson is shot in the head by Rohmer who reveals that launching Syphon Filter-filled R-9 missile was his own idea and that Markinson actually tried to stop it, aware of the severe consequences its launch would have. He also reveals that he doesn't care who or how many people will be killed once the missile is launched. After the missile is launched, Gabe chases after Rohmer, intending to stop both the missile and Rohmer once and for all...
