Shortly after destruction of Rohmer's base in Kazakhstan and Lian Xing's death, Gabe is briefed on Syphon Filter Virus and its destructive capabilities by Markinson, also being told about Rohmer's and PharCom's joint medical facility used for human experiments with the virus located within an abandoned cathedral in Ukraine whose location was given up by Mara Aramov shortly before she escaped The Agency's custody with additional investigation by The Agency revealing that Phagan was caught by Rohmer's men after events in New York and taken to the facility in order to be experimented on by his own company. With no other leads to help them get to Rohmer and wishing to save Phagan and other test subjects, Markinson sends Gabe to Ukraine in order to find Phagan and inject any surviving test subjects with an antigen supposedly developed by The Agency...
