Gabe finally reaches the catacombs and overhears a prisoner termination order being given to one of the scientists working there. Due to cell doors using biometric systems, Gabe follows the scientist to Phagan's cell and upon reaching it, kills him before he can harm Phagan whom he proceeds to interrogate about the location of Syphon Filter's sequencing computers containing genetic information of its designated victims. Under pressure, Phagan reveals the location to be PharCom-owned warehouse district in Kazakhstan and reveals that Lian is still alive and is also held prisoner with Gabe having him lead him to her cell. After the two fight their way to Lian's cell, Phagan runs off and Gabe meets up with his partner who reveals that there is no universal cure for Syphon Filter infection due to nature of the infection requiring specific genetic information in order to treat or vaccinate individual cases and that Markinson's "vaccine" that Gabe has been giving to other test subjects was actually combination of lethal chemicals. Two fight their way out of the catacombs and witness Phagan being shot in the head by Mara Aramov who, having seemingly switched sides due to having fallen out of favor with Rohmer, urges two agents to follow her to the helicopter that is set to take them to Kazakhstan...
