Me and Steve, Dual Axes versus Dual swords
1Now this was an interesting bout. Again, some ridiculous weapon match ups, but very fun and educational.
Safe to say, dual swords are better, they are more nimble, have more attack and defence options. I'd also argue that having two swords working together in tandem, is much more efficient and effective than two head-heavy weapons like axes.
Either way, we thought we'd try it!
So one advantage the axes had was being intimidating, I had a few successful attacks where I pretty much charged in with both axes spinning around. This caused Steve to panic a little and focus too much on defence, even though for the majority of the fight, he was winning quite comfortably.
The axes offer no hand protection, and they are very head-heavy, so it's harder to be as nimble with them. They also lack good thrusting capabilities. Yes, you can thrust with an axe and have some success, but nowhere near as well as a sword.
I'm definitely up for trying two axes again, they are extremely awkward, but fun to play with. You never know, maybe we can make it a viable weapon system...
