This is part 2 of my 100 point run of Mega Man Zero 4. This time I’ll be tackling the middle stages which include the first battle with Craft as well as taking care of the four remaining main bosses. Here are some notes about this part of the run.

-To follow up on my comment from the previous part, Thunder Stab immediately starts to show its merits in the second half of the prison stage. With correct positioning it’s able to cut through multiple groups of Variant soldiers in a single attack. However its ability to generate sparks upon contact with a wall is what really makes it a standout attack. In the stages after the prison I make extensive use of the sparks, using them to intercept fast incoming enemies as well as destroy enemies on walls without having to jump up and strike them directly. Lastly I make use of the stun effect to pass through high health enemies like Gangagun while simultaneously dealing damage to them with other skills or more sparks.

-For the prison stage I do have Animal Lv.1 equipped on the elf which provides the same effect as the Quick Foot chip in MMZ3. This allows me to keep up with the giant steel ball by just running behind it letting Zero take a leisurely stroll and watch all the enemies get crushed effortlessly.

-Artificial Sun is probably my favorite stage in the game, combining high speed vertical ascension with many opportunities to use the aforementioned sparks in the generator rooms. It also marks the first and most notable use of the Tractor Shot EX Skill which in this case is used to obliterate Tyrine, the miniboss of the level.

-I do manage to beat Fenri using two combo strings, the rising triple slash does a total of 14 damage due to having Hirondelle name the Cyber-Elf instead of Alouette. This means that a single combo consisting of that plus Flame Fang and Sky Chaser can do 32 damage but it’s also much slower than the standard fast cancel into Flame Fang and therefore not safe to do. Most of the time when attempting it I got hit so it took a while to get some good luck and have Fenri not immediately retaliate with an instant close range stab.

Here are the timestamps for the stages in this video:

00:00 - Human Settlement | Craft
02:38 - The Prison | The Giant
05:26 - Magnetic Zone | Mino Magnus
08:45 - Artificial Sun | Sol Titanion
11:52 - Hibernation Chamber | Fenri Lunaedge
14:49 - Living City | Popla Cocapetri

Played using both the mGBA and VBA-M cores in Retroarch, recorded with OBS. Hope you enjoyed watching and feel free to leave any comments or questions you may have.
