May as well show off a quick preview of what the recently released first version of Megaman X2 Hardtype entails with its two released stages.

First off...while these two videos are on the 0.1.5 version, the latest version is at 0.1.6, but all it does is fix a couple minor things in the intro stage. The latest version of the hack can always be found here:

Now then, the intro stage shows off quite a few different features compared to X1's hardtype. Stage is longer and isn't restricted by the original level's structure (For X1 hardtype, look at Armored Armadillo's stage and compare it to the vanilla version to see what I mean). Also, quite a few more enemies, but never in any annoying spots save for one or two moments, none of which are hovering over pits that you have to make leaps of faith over.

As for damage taken, it's much like X1 hardtype. Everything hits harder, but luckily everything can drop health, meaning you can be as fast or slow as you want.

The other notable change...AI tweaks aren't necessarily limited to bosses anymore. The robot that pulls two walls together near the end of the stage flies up much quicker and pulls said walls in rather damn fast.

Finally...the intro stage boss, one very big and round robot. Its head is the weakpoint, but getting to it isn't going to be easy. Instead of being dropped right at the top where you can shoot at it instantly, you'll have to go left or right, jump up the wall a bit, then wall jump over to a platform and make your way up to the top.

Even when you reach the top though, there's only two ways to reach the head. Either hop on the ladder and go as high up as you can and fire a buster shot or wait for the attack where it jumps on over towards X. Only the spiky spheres on the arms and the spikes on the leg will do damage to you if you ram into them, but more importantly when the robot jumps over, its head lowers just enough for X to jump up from a platform and fire a shot. Luckily, the boss takes high damage from buster shots so once you can start hitting it, the fight won't take long.
