Snake leaves the area where he fought Ocelot and returns to the surface, proceeding to establish contact with female prisoner and Colonel Campbell's niece Meryl. During conversation, Snake learns that FOXHOUND and soldiers patroling the facility were initially hired to help test Metal Gear prototype in secrecy.
