San Diego Comic Con opened professional badge registration, then quickly closed it. Some smaller independent professionals and comics industry employees were denied badges, while big studios reportedly received plenty, as did actors and entourages. This begs the question: has Comic Con forgotten its roots in favor of big names and big stars? Is the con too 'Hollywood' now? It's long been fashionable for people to say they're "over" Comic Con, but do those people have a point?

Has Comic Con forgotten about the people its supposedly based on?

Kristen Nedopak, my friend and independent content creator was denied a "pro" badge despite being issued one in the past, and having served as an official SDCC panelist. She and I discuss what Comic Con is now, compared to its past.
