Metroid Prime: The Trilogy That Wasn't (Introduction)
Metroid Prime is one of my favorite video game series, and has been practically since the original Prime's release in 2002 (...well, realistically more like since Echoes came out in 2005). But is the renowned first-person shooter/puzzler/explorer series really what many people and a ton of white plastic cases call it: a trilogy?
Well, obviously not when 4 comes out, as I'm sure it will any day now, because then it would be a quadralogy or whatever the next one up is.
No, seriously, there are more reasons than that for doubting Prime's trilogicity...trilogisticalism...status as a trilogy. All three of these games are great on their own, but a trilogy is supposed to be more than the sum of its parts, and from a storytelling perspective, they definitely don't add up to anything coherent.
Over the next three videos, I'll be exploring each of the Prime games in depth, seeing what other critics have observed in them as well as the things they overlooked. Prime is a deep enough series that, despite a mountain of analysis on Youtube, there's still a lot about it that slips under the Scan Radar.
Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next upload!
