MH4 - 6-Star Guild Tigrex & Black Tigrex (Single Player | 1 Comrade | Insect Rod)
3Yeah, whatever happened to uploading my bias to hell and back.
Plenty of people seem to have capture cards for their 3DS systems so my cam recordings look much worse in comparison to the capture card footage, but I wanted to share some of my experience with the game with all of you for change.
You think double Tigrex in Freedom Unite was a nightmare? Well get this, two species of Tigrex are simultaneously roaming the field out there and both can and will be infected by the wyvern virus in relatively short amount of time. I deliberately showed you Black Tigrex getting infected by it as I was clinging to a wall. Surprisingly enough, the regular Tigrex can leap to obnoxious heights so the fun did not last long.
The Tigrexes are much more aggressive and from a Great Sword user perspective you cannot bait free headshots while it turns around two times in a row, as it got replaced with a much quicker and more consistent animation. Oh well, from my experience this thing is still just as easy to deal with Great Sword than it was before!
One thing I like about the virus infection is that monsters spend a lot more time being fatigued, It's free damage, who wouldn't want that?!
I'm using a high-rank Neruskyura Insect Rod that is second-to-last upgrade on this particular weapon's upgrade path. My armor set is a combination of low rank Diablos and high rank Tigrex, Tetsukabura and Serutasu insect material and gives me Sharpness +1 and Defense Up Medium. I should note here, that I_love_sharpness+1_on_insect_rods because they are such sharpness hogs and when low sharpness is not an issue, I can just unleash a flurry of slashes and do craptons of damage.
At one point I get a bit too arrogant against a rage-mode Black Tigrex with a leap of faith, that essentially leads me to a touch of death combo. As this weapon has it's aggressive traits derived from Dual Swords, it is easy to get caught in a never-ending rushdown and God bless you if you whiff the standing X vertical slash with the ATK buff on.
Generally speaking I had better ergonomics while recording this, but at times I was still wondering whether I was going out of camera's line of sight too much. I did put some tape on the table so I can easily sense when I would do it though!
All in all a solid hunt, could've gone much better but eh, as long as it gets done I'm fine with it. This ain't a speedrun after all. :P
