The best storytelling tools at our disposal are those that leverage the strengths of the medium. The same goes for the written word: game texts should complement gameplay, not detract from it, no matter the genre. In this talk, we will explore the “less is more” principle through the lens of flavor texts and discuss narrative techniques that can help us build living worlds with fewer words and get players invested in our stories.
